To apply, please fill out the form here.
Undergraduates and master’s level students with background in computer science, mathematics, or other related disciplines are encouraged to apply. We will release a separate call for mentors and staff participants. SGI will be held remotely (online) in 2024, but participants are expected to be engaged full-time.
Applicants are requested to submit the following materials:
- A cover letter specifically addressing their interest in SGI and any relevant background; applicants can also include links to relevant work they have done in the past (e.g., class projects or personal web pages).
- A resume or CV
- Optional: One reference letter from a mentor, instructor, or collaborator
- Optional: Additional materials in .pdf format (e.g., an unofficial grade transcript)
SGI is invested in finding and nurturing talented students from all paths, and we understand that not all academic journeys follow a straight line. In your cover letter, we encourage you to share how your work, values, and/or lived experiences contributed to your academic path.
SGI is dedicated to the inclusion of individuals of all backgrounds at all levels of geometry processing research. We strongly encourage women and students from underrepresented and underserved groups to apply, including students who come from low socioeconomic means or were the first in their family to attend college. No prior research experience or coursework in geometry processing is necessary to participate in SGI; students who have excelled in the math, science, and/or computing programs available to them are strongly encouraged to apply. All applicants will be considered equitably regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender. Current PhD students and professionals are not qualified to apply.
US law prevents MIT and SGI from engaging with persons ordinarily resident in certain comprehensively sanctioned countries and with parties blocked by the US Treasury Department. Pending tax considerations associated to the honoraria, all other international students qualify for participation and are invited to apply.
Check out this thread for some Q&A and tips related to the SGI application.
Note: The program is restricted to current undergraduate and master’s students (either at the time of submitting the application or to start fall 2024 at the latest). Please refrain from emailing the organizers asking for an exception to this rule.
